Future Post- Recycling 10X

In our Explore Page we feature the company " Future Post"  based in Waiuku that is taking No 2 and 4 plastics and turning them into fence posts.

No 1 plastic consists of these containers: - milk - cleaning agents - shampoo bottles - laundry detergents.  No4 plastics are most plastic wrappings, shopping bags, bread bags or otherwise known as soft plastics.

When we featured them last year they were aiming to have their fence posts for sale at Farm Source stores early 2019, so we thought we would touch base with Irene at Future Post for an update.

The good news is that when we spoke last week their first consignment of 2000 posts were on their way to the North Island based Farm Source Outlets.

Here are a few facts about the posts they produce:

In each standard post there are approx 208 milk bottles and about 1700 units of single use plastic.  The company is expecting to recycle several thousand tons of No 2 and No 4 plastic per year.

The posts have a 50 yr life span and at the end of there life they can be taken back and recycled.

The posts are

  • 100 % recycled plastic
  • 100% CCA Free - no leaching into the soil
  • 100% environmentally friendly
  • 100% organic farm friendly
  • 100% recyclable
  • Biogro Certified.

That's a great news story - thanks Irene and the Future Post Team
